The society for fern enthusiasts
The Society promotes all aspects of pteridology - the study of ferns, horsetails, clubmosses and quillworts.
We are involved in the cultivation, conservation and the scientific study of ferns through publications, meetings, the provision of grants and other appropriate means. Although UK-based, our membership and journal articles cover pteridology worldwide.
The Society is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society and Plant Heritage, and supports recording and conservation activities with other botanical societies, universities and botanical gardens.
We are the International Cultivar Registration Authority (ICRA) for the genus Polypodium.
A quick reminder that the Fern and Carnivorous Plant Show at RHS Garden Wisley will take place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July. We'll be based in the Hilltop Science Centre throughout the weekend, with a programme of talks and tours running across both days.
